When we find ourselves seeking therapy, we’re usually feeling stuck.

We may be stuck in a pattern—whether it’s a pattern that isn’t serving us in our relationships, a behavior we can’t seem to change, a pattern of negative beliefs or low self-worth.

We may feel stuck in anxiety, in a seemingly never-ending loop of rumination, avoidance and exhaustion.

It may seem like we’re doing the same thing over and over again—while wanting a different outcome—but without any real change.

And what can feel most frustrating is we know what we would like to change, but we don’t know how to get there.

This is when intentional action can help.

Rather than focusing solely on the problem, during our work together we’ll use your inherent strengths to work towards a solution. We’ll work as a team to equip you with the insight, tools and road map to take intentional steps to help you get unstuck.

To do this, we’ll primarily use a combination of the following techniques:

Mindfulness techniques to help you gain insight and awareness into what’s driving your behavior and what you’re thinking, feeling and need.

Cognitive behavioral techniques to understand the role your thinking patterns and core beliefs are playing in your behavior, along with the origin of those beliefs.

Emotion regulation techniques to learn techniques to help you regulate and understand your emotions.

and

Motivational interviewing techniques to help you overcome resistance towards the changes you’re hoping to make.

While my role is to provide an outsider’s perspective and tools to help you achieve your goals, you are always the one who is in charge during our sessions. We go at your pace, and we use your insights to guide our work.

Because even if it doesn’t feel like it right now, you are the expert of your life and have everything inside of you needed to achieve the change you’re seeking.
